Free parent guide

The Trafford 11+ is changing. Here is what that means.

The Trafford Consortium is replacing GL Assessment with FSCE. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning are removed, and the test moves onto the Key Stage 2 curriculum. Children currently in Year 5 are the first affected: they sit the new test in September 2027, for entry in September 2028.

We have put everything we can verify into one guide, written for parents rather than for tutors, with each fact attributed to the school or Consortium page it came from.

What is inside

  • What is actually changing, and which children it affects
  • Both FSCE papers, and how they differ from the GL test
  • The Key Stage 2 content boundary, and why it stops at Year 5
  • How age standardisation works, and what a qualifying score means
  • Each Trafford school's places, catchment and allocation rules
  • A year-by-year timeline for the 2028 and 2029 cohorts

No cost, no obligation, and we will not pass your details to anyone.
