Cartesian Tuition · Personalised Tuition, Precisely Measured

We don’t guess where your child is struggling. We measure it.

Personalised one-to-one online tuition from Key Stage 2 to GCSE, specialising in 11+ preparation.

Every child starts with a diagnostic assessment, and every session targets a gap we have measured rather than one we assumed.

Book a free diagnostic assessment

The assessment is free. You get a written report showing exactly where your child stands, and you’re welcome to use it to work on things at home, whether or not you book tuition. See a sample report.

Parent reviews

What parents say

Mohammad was excellent support for my daughter with both her maths and English GCSE, of which she passed both, all thanks to him! Highly recommend.

Katie TParent · GCSE maths and English

The best tutor my son has had, is able to explain in clear terms what he wants my son to learn. Has a great manner and puts my 14 year old at ease. Has helped improve his maths with real skill.

Mr C ChapmanParent · Maths

Amazing tutors who helped my daughter get into grammar school, where she achieved an amazing score of 387 last year. I’ve also enrolled my second daughter, who recently sat her entrance exam and felt that it went really well for her. Thank you so much for all your help and support along the way

The method

A system, not a session.

Most tutoring starts with a worksheet and a guess. We start with a measurement, and we do not teach a topic until we know whether it needs teaching.

Part of a sample diagnostic report: maths strands each marked separately, with measures and conversion flagged as a priority at 1 of 3.
From the sample report: every strand marked on its own. Full sample
01

Assess

A granular assessment maps your child against every strand of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. Not 'weak at maths', but precisely which objectives, in which order, are holding progress back.

Part of a sample diagnostic report: a numbered list of where to focus, starting with measures and conversion, then grammar and punctuation.
From the sample report: gaps in the order we would fix them. Full sample

Map

We turn the assessment into a pathway: the exact sequence of skills to fix, ordered by what unlocks the most.

Sessions follow the pathway. Every session targets a gap we have measured rather than one we assumed.

We reassess as we go. The plan changes as your child does, and objectives that are secure drop out of it.

The change: the FSCE 11+

Children in Year 5 are the first to sit the new test

FSCE stands for Future Stories Community Enterprise, a not-for-profit organisation that builds entrance tests for selective state schools. The Trafford Consortium appointed it as its new test provider in July 2026, which is why the new Trafford test is called the FSCE 11+.

The Trafford 11+ is changing. From September 2027 it drops verbal and non-verbal reasoning and moves onto the Key Stage 2 curriculum, which makes one question decisive: which objectives has your child actually secured? Measuring precisely that is what we have always done, and we have mapped the new exam in detail so preparation starts from evidence rather than guesswork.

The Trafford Grammar School Consortium is replacing GL Assessment with FSCE. Children currently in Year 5 sit the new test in September 2027, for entry in September 2028. The test is drawn from the Key Stage 2 English and maths curriculum up to the end of Year 5.

From 2029 entry it moves again, out of September of Year 6 and into the summer term of Year 5.

We have published a full breakdown of the new exam: both papers, the exact Key Stage 2 domains in scope, and how the qualifying score is calculated. It is the most detailed account of this change we are aware of, and it is free to read.

Schools we prepare for

Every school sets its own bar

The five Trafford Consortium schools share one test and one score, but each sets its own qualifying score and its own catchment rules. A result that succeeds at one can fall short at another, and where you live usually decides more than the score does. Clitheroe Royal runs its own admissions entirely.

Find out exactly where your child stands.

A free diagnostic assessment shows where your child stands and how they think, from Key Stage 2 to GCSE, so teaching starts from evidence rather than a guess.
